What the allowances mean
What is an AI credit?
Credits measure AI usage. The amount used depends on the model, the material processed and the response length. A short discussion and an investigation involving more manuscript context can use different amounts. Credits are not a fixed number of chapter reviews.
Your usage page shows how much of each allowance remains. The trial gives you Pro capacity to try Muse with your own work before choosing a plan.
When do credits reset?
There are two allowances: one for four hours and one for seven days. Each window begins with your first AI request, lasts its full duration, and refreshes after it expires. Both limits apply; closing the app does not start a new window.
What happens when I reach a limit?
AI requests pause until the relevant allowance resets, or you upgrade for more capacity. Muse shows the reset time. You can still write and organise your work while your trial or subscription is active.
How do World Bible updates work?
The World Bible is compiled in the background. Each plan has a daily update allowance and a separate monthly processing limit, shared across your projects. Updates wait for a pause in editing and are not immediate.
A large import may reach the processing limit before every entry is compiled. If that happens, further processing waits until the monthly allowance resets or you move to a plan with more capacity.
What happens after the free trial?
If you do not subscribe, your projects become read-only. You can still view and export your work. A paid plan restores editing and AI access. There is no automatic charge for a trial without a subscription.
Can I bring my existing manuscript?
Yes. Import Word (.docx), Markdown, or a zipped Scrivener project into a book. Export a manuscript as Word, or individual chapters as Word or Markdown. See the writing workspace.
What happens to my writing?
Muse claims no ownership of your manuscript. AI features send relevant text to external AI providers to process your request. Read the privacy policy and terms for details.
